NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor Course – $260
This instructor training class develops NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to organize and conduct the NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home Course.
Part 1 – Basic Instructor Training is not Included in this Class and if you haven’t completed it within the past 24 months it must be taken again and must be scheduled and completed through a NRA Training Counselor prior to the scheduled PPOTH Instructor Course.

Instructor candidates must be certified as Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructors prior to this course and have completed the NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home Class and be a certified NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor. Instructor candidates will be assigned portions of the lessons from the basic class they completed to role play teach to the instructor class. Instructor candidates will participate in role play teaching all the defensive shooting techniques and multiple shooting positions, using other candidates as students and then rotate to being a role play student.
Students must have their own 9mm or greater caliber semi-automatic pistol with at least two magazines, an outside the waistband belt mounted holster, a belt mounted magazine holster, and a concealment garment that fully covers the holstered pistol. Students may shoot a revolver but must have at least three speed loaders for the revolver. You also need electronic ear protection, eye protection, and 200 rounds of factory loaded ammunition.
Registration
You must register at least 14 days in advance of class. If less than four people pre-register the class will be cancelled and deposits refunded. Last minute registrations taken if four people have pre-registered and instructor has any extra NRA training packets on hand.
We may consider minors between 18 and 20 for this training on a case basis.
Payment with your registration is required to reserve a slot for a class. If you cancel attending more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time of a class you’ve registered for there will be a $50 cancellation fee deducted from your refund to cover our advance administrative costs. Cancellations within 48 hours of a class starting time are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. If you do not cancel or show up for class you forfeit your pre-payment.
