This two day class develops and certifies NRA Rifle Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Class.
Part 1 – Basic Instructor Training is not Included in this Class and if you haven’t completed BIT within the past 24 months you will need to take it again and must be scheduled and completed through a NRA Training Counselor prior to the scheduled Rifle Instructor Course.

Part 2- Rifle Instructor Training & Certification:

You must have taken and passed the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Class prior to taking this course. Instructor Candidates will be split into groups and assigned portions of lesson plans from the basic course to role play teach to other candidates and the Training Counselor. These exercises are designed to verify that the instructor candidates have a thorough knowledge of the NRA teaching methods, the Guide to the Basics of Rifle Shooting book, and the Lesson Plan for the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting class.
Instructor Candidates qualification shooting requirement is to be able to group eight out of ten shots fired from 25 yards at a 4.5” target from bench rest, prone, and standing unsupported positions. Candidates are allowed three attempts in a 24-hour period to qualify. Calibers between .22LR and .308 are permitted and students will need 100 rounds of factory loaded ammunition (no steel core ammunition is permitted). Candidates must demonstrate ability to safely manage the shooting exercises from the Basic Rifle Class.
