This class teaches students the defensive mindset needed to use a gun in self-defense, so they can minimize the risks of their home being a target for a home invasion, setting up safe areas, and what to do if their home is broken in while they are at home, the law related to use of deadly force in defending their home, and the consequences of having to shoot an intruder. 

Students must have their own handgun that is a minimum caliber of 9mm or .38 Special, electronic ear protection, and eye protection.  Holsters are not permitted in this basic class.
